Description
A crispy and flavorful traditional fried tilapia (mojarra frita) recipe, marinated in lime and garlic and served hot with rice and beans.
Ingredients
2 whole mojarras (tilapia), cleaned and scored
2 limes
3 cloves garlic, minced
Salt, black pepper, paprika
Vegetable oil for frying
Optional: flour for crisp coating
Instructions
1. Clean and score the fish on both sides.
2. Rub with lime, garlic, salt, and spices.
3. Marinate for 20–30 minutes.
4. Heat oil to 350–375°F in a skillet.
5. Fry fish 5–7 minutes per side until golden.
6. Serve hot with rice, beans, and salsa.
Notes
Lightly dusting the fish with flour before frying helps achieve a crispier texture.
Pair with fresh lime wedges and homemade pico de gallo.
